YARRAVILLE LIGHT HOUSE

About This Project

Such a long and skinny site brings with it a unique set of challenges. How do you get light into the middle of your home if the whole site is only one room wide in the first place? Well, you place a north facing courtyard right in the middle and let the light flood in. Our clients with a growing family wanted to be able to open the house up and make the most of the new connections between indoors and outdoors. The rear of the existing house allowed minimal interaction with the garden. Our proposal changes that with an extension of soft curves that flow in and out of the garden.
